Choose how you build your blog

What are your options?

Right now at this point in 2021, you have lots of good options. If you want to have easy life and start your blog right away you can choose one of the following services

Website builders

I start with these options because honestly they are the easiest and will save you mucho headaches in the long run.

You can buy both domain name and hosting with easy to use website builder solution. If this sounds easy, do it.

I have more experience with Weebly and Squarespace, but you can try out these services for free before commit to them. It is personal preference and matter of taste what work for me may not work for you and vise versa.

Only way to find out is to try.

Blogging Platforms

There are many blogging platforms out there, but the most popular are Blogger by Google and WordPress.com

If you would like to test content creation and try to get your feet wet start with these.

Especially if you are not sure about your niche yet or topics and so.

Then you can start and have multiple blogs for different topics. I am not saying that it is a good idea, but for planning and gaining clarity why not?

Maybe you just want to write your thoughts out of your head, do some planning, gain clarity or so then these are great free options.

Make sure you set them to be private when writing personal things.

Blogger

Many times people start with this option. For a long time, this was the most popular option.

These days you can make your blog beautiful with Premium themes and it will barely look any different than self-hosted WordPress blogs.

You will be able to look “Professional” with a free blog too, but I would use this as a starting point feeling the waters.

You can start monetizing your blog with ads using Google Adsense program.

Remember that things will bring you money only when people view your blog and they will pay attention if what you have to say is relevant to them.

If you decide to move your change to self-hosted WordPress it can be done with ease.

WordPress.com

You can start with a free plan and upgrade later. With no headaches and everything will be handled for you.

And if you decide to move your blog to another host later, you can do that with ease.

If you would like to build your audience first then read this.

Self-hosted WordPress

Self-hosted WordPress means having WordPress installed to your domain and your hosting. This is a popular way of doing it. I use Self-hosted WordPress because there is more flexibility than with WordPress.com
